8(3m + 5) = 2m - 4

Simplify.

24m + 40 = 2m - 4

Subtract 40 from both sides.

24m = 2m - 4 - 40

Then, subtract 2m from both side.s

24m - 2m = -4 - 40

Simplify.

22m = -44

Then, divide both sides by 22.

22m ÷ 22 = -44 ÷ 22

Simplify.

m = -2
