x = 8-(-2.25) = 8+2.25 = 10.25

y = 6-4.2-(-4.9)=6-4.2+4.9=6+0.7=6.7

x-y = 10.25.-6.7= [tex] \frac{1025}{100} - \frac{670}{100} = \frac{1025-670}{100} = \frac{355}{100} =3.55[/tex]

 [tex]x=10.5 [/tex]


[tex]y=6-4.2-(-4.9) [/tex]
[tex]y=1.8+4.9 [/tex]
[tex]y=6.7 [/tex]

[tex]x-y=10.5-6.7=3.8 [/tex]
The  answer is: 3.8
