A sloppy joe restaurant gave 3 napkins to every 7 items ordered. If someone bought 14 items how many napkins should they get

They would get 6 napkins because you get three napkins for a 7 item order and 14 is twice the amount of 7 so you would get six because it is 2 times the amount of 3

 set it up as a proportion 

napkins = 3        x
  
items =      7      14 
 cross multiply 14x3=42 
     is 42 divided into 7  =6
