Throughout the novel, Nick has been Gatsby's only true friend. Wolfsheim and Gatsby were business associates, but Wolfsheim does not want to get involved in his death because it could hurt business. The note he sends seems very detached from any honest emotion. He feels that he is responsible for Gasby’s death.
